THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis. CBD (cannabidiol) is non-psychoactive and is used for wellness purposes. Together with other cannabinoids, they create the entourage effect.
Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in cannabis that contribute to flavor, aroma, and effects. Common terpenes include myrcene (earthy, relaxing), limonene (citrus, uplifting), and pinene (pine, focused).
Sativa strains are generally associated with uplifting, energizing effects. Indica strains tend to be more relaxing and body-focused. Hybrid strains combine characteristics of both for balanced effects.
Cannabis can be consumed by smoking flower, vaping cartridges or concentrates, eating edibles, applying topicals, or using tinctures. Each method has different onset times and duration of effects.
If you are new to cannabis, start low and go slow. Begin with a small amount and wait to feel the effects before consuming more. Edibles can take 30 minutes to 2 hours to take effect.
Store cannabis in an airtight container away from light, heat, and humidity. Proper storage preserves potency, flavor, and freshness. Avoid plastic bags which can degrade terpenes.
